I love this time of the year. The summer holidays are here and that means more time for relaxing and practicing! I think we all have our practicing methods and routines, and we all try to find what works the best for us. But there is one thing I find really important: the feedback that we give to ourselves.
1. Every time we practice we should be honest about our strong points and about the problems. There is no need to be overly enthusiastic or too humble as we don‘t have to impress anyone. When you‘re honest about your playing it is much more easy to do the next step.

2. Try to be specific. Break down your playing into elements. Is your sound good, is your articulation precise? Can you hear all the notes in the passages? Is the musical phrase logic and clear? Give an exact valuation for every technical and musical element you can think of.
3. When you have clearly in mind the exact situation, plan the next step. What do you have to do to play better? Is it just a matter or practicing the exact musical piece or should you work on some technical aspects? Do your scales need polishing? Maybe you should find some exercises which could help you improve?
These are very easy steps, but they can make a huge improvement in your playing! Have fun and happy fluting!
